Formerly of Chicago experimentalists Pit Er Pat, classically trained pianist and singer Fay Davis-Jeffers went by just her first name once the band broke up after releasing The Flexible Entertainer in 2010. Her solo career was just as intriguing as Pit Er Pat's work, albeit very different, incorporating layers of her voice with rhythms borrowed from zouk, gamelan, and contemporary R&B with a disorienting but often hypnotic cut-and-paste production aesthetic, all of which were on display on her debut album, Din, which arrived in mid-2012 via Time No Place Records. ~ Heather Pha...
