Originally comprising Gavin Atkin (fiddle/vocals), Tim Bull (melodeon), Chris Warner (bass) and Richard Blake (saxophone), Florida formed in the UK in 1990 after the first three named members of the band had deserted their previous project, Melons For Ecstasy. They were joined by trumpet player Charlie Handley but by 1991 Blake had departed, to be replaced on saxophone by Richard Goodwin of the Seven Champions.
