Biography

Countertenor Franco Fagioli specializes in the difficult Baroque opera repertory of the castrati, male singers who were castrated as children so that their voices would not change. He has worked with conductors such as Rinaldo Alessandrini and Christophe Rousset, who have striven to rediscover the highly dramatic aspects of castrato roles. Fagioli was born in San Miguel de Tucumán in northern Argentina in 1981.
