The rising British composer Freya Waley-Cohen has attracted commissions from chamber groups and, increasingly often, orchestras from around Britain and beyond. Her music, in the words of her website, "is characterised by contrasts between earthy rhythmic play and fragility, luminous spaces, and a sense of the otherworldly." She is also a co-founder of the Listenpony concert series, which commissioned many new works. Several of Waley-Cohen's works have been recorded, including the song cycle Spell Book (2020), which appeared on an album on the NMC label in 2024.
