With an eclectic style drawing on influences from folk music to the avant-garde, Mexico's Gabriela Ortiz is among Latin America's most prominent composers. She has been championed extensively by New York Philharmonic conductor-designate Gustavo Dudamel. Ortiz is also an educator who has taught in Mexico and the U.S. Among the many recordings of her music is that of her ballet Revolución Diamantina, issued by Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2024.
