Following a period as the DJ for Top 20 pop/rock group the Dust Junkys, Ganiyu embarked on a solo career and became the first artist released by the Manchester/London label Key Recordings. Born in Manchester to parents of English, Irish, Nigerian, and black American descent, Ganiyu -- whose Nigerian name means "self-sufficient" -- took his love of music from his mother.
