Gary Stewart

After writing Stonewall Jackson's 1965 chart-topping country hit, "Poor Red Georgia Dirt," Floridian Gary Stewart enjoyed songwriting successes for numerous others. He also established himself as a hard-driving, honky-tonk performer. He signed with RCA and released the hit album 1975's Out of Hand, containing the chart-topping "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)." Subsequent releases -- 1976's Steppin' Out, 1977's Your Place or Mine, 1978's Little Junior, and 1979's Gary -- all charted.
