Gerry Read began releasing scuffed, off-balance house tracks in 2010, long before "outsider house" and "lo-fi house" became industry buzzwords. Filled with booming, slightly disjointed kick drums and grainy textures, his recordings instantly stand out, yet work as functional dance tracks, somewhat in the vein of Detroit producers like Theo Parrish or Moodymann, but originating from the British dance underground.
