Biography
Danish singer Gitte Haenning was born in the city of Århus in 1946. A celebrated regional teen idol in the '50s, Haenning made the move to Germany in 1963, obliterating the charts with her smash single "Ich Will 'Nen Cowboy Als Mann." A highly successful collaboration with popular German singer Rex Gildo followed, but Haenning was losing interest in the unforgiving and often fleeting world of pop music.
