Biography
Pianist Greg Murphy is an adept post-bop jazz improviser, known for his solo work and long association with drummer Rashied Ali. Murphy emerged in Chicago and spent time in New Orleans, before settling in NYC in the late-'80s. He worked closely with Ali until the drummer's death in 2009. Murphy has also released his own albums, including 2014's Blues for Miles, 2019's Bright Idea with Jeff "Tain" Watts and Eric Alexander, and 2024's You Remind Me.
