Gully Bop, born Robert Lee Malcolm, is a dancehall deejay who recorded as Country Man in the 1980s. He rose from homelessness to fame in 2014, after some some seemingly off-the-cuff performances were recorded and uploaded to social media platforms. Shrewd producers snatched the a cappella material and applied it to backing tracks. By the end of the year, the Kingston native had a handful of official Gully Bop releases to his credit, and expanded his fan base with a confrontational set at his island's Sting Festival.
