Hans Pfitzner

A German composer, conservative in style and harmony, who is nonetheless considered part of the modern school typified by Richard Strauss. Pfitzner's opera Palestrina made use of that composer's themes and was tremendously popular. His staunch support of the Nazi regime contributed to his fall from favor as a composer. ~ Mary K. Scanlan
