Biography
Based in Accra, Ghana, Hedzoleh Soundz were the first resident band at Faisal Helwani's legendary nightclub, The Napoleon, during 1973. Hedzoleh (which means Freedom in the Ga language) comprised Nii Poumah (flute/congas/vocals), Okyerema Asante (percussion/vocals), Stanley Kwesi Todd (bass/vocals), James Kwaku Morton (congas/vocals), Samuel Nortey (percussion/vocals), and Acheampong Welbeck (drums) and they played a roots-rich fusion of highlife and rock musics.
