In 1982 Brazilian singer/guitarist Herbert Vianna joined bassist Bi Ribeiro and drummer Vital Dias, later replaced by Joâo Barone to assemble a rock band called Os Paralamas Do Sucesso aka Paralamas. Soon after the reggae/ska-inflected outfit became a local top-selling number. His solo career began in 1992 with the release of E Batumare followed by 1997's Santorini Blues recorded in Los Angeles, CA and 2000's O Som Do Sim featuring contributions from Cássia Eller, Sandra de Sá and Marcos Valle.
