Formed in 1978 by veteran American guitarist Mike Kennedy (previously a member of Nicky Hopkins' band, among other projects), Horsepower started life in Philadelphia before relocating to the U.K. and being "discovered" by former Animals bassist and onetime Jimi Hendrix manager Chas Chandler.
