Palindrome-obsessed indie rockers IfIHadAHiFi got together in northern Wisconsin, and developed a sound that fused squalling noise rock with dance beats and cheap electronics. Original members Dr. Awkward (drums), Mr. Alarm (bass), and Yale Delay (synth, guitar) first played together in a local band called the Pop Machine, which disbanded in late 1999.
