The G.R.E.S. Império Serrano, nine-time winner of the official Carnaval contest of the city of Rio de Janeiro (1948-1951, 1955-1956, 1960, 1972, 1982), was founded in the Morro da Serrinha (Serrinha Hill), in the Madureira borough. Its history began with Francisco Zacarias de Oliveira, who lived in the Serrinha Hill.
