Biography
Son of salsa star Ismael Rivera, aka Maelo, Puerto Rican Ismael Rivera Jr. joined Ismael Cortijo in the late '70s. They made a record called El Sueño del Maestro, featuring "Muralla de Bronce," dedicated to his father. After moving to New York, Maelo teamed up with Francisco Bastar and later participated in a tropical band called los Hijos de la Salsa. After performing along with Jesús Cepeda, Ismael Rivera Jr. decided to go on his own. ~ Drago Bonacich
