Biography

Conductor Jan Łukaszewski is one of Eastern Europe's leading specialists in choral music, with an orientation toward often difficult contemporary works. He is the conductor and artistic director of the Polski Chór Kameralny. Łukaszewski was born on August 1, 1949, in Gdansk, Poland, and grew up in the city's Oliwa district; there, he founded the Mozartiana festival in 2006. Since 1983, he has conducted the Schola Cantorum Gedanensis, and he has premiered more than 700 works with that group as well as issuing numerous albums; many of those have won or been nominated for the Po...
