Inspired by the likes of Missy Elliott, Brandy, and Frank Ocean, Jayla Darden favors relaxed, feel-good contemporary R&B with pop appeal. The singer and songwriter further distinguishes herself by producing the majority of her material. Within a few years of uploading her first recordings, she partnered with Interscope and issued the Onto Something EP in 2019.
