Biography

France's Jean-François Verdier maintains dual careers as a conductor and clarinetist, and he is also a composer of music for children. He is the principal conductor of the Victor Hugo Orchestra and has made several recordings with that group. Verdier was born in Toulouse. He attended the Conservatoire de Paris and won international competitions in multiple disciplines in Colmar, Vienna, Lugano (where he gained attention with the Prix Bruno Walter at the Lugano International Conducting Competition), and Tokyo.
