Biography
Best known for her massive 1968 hit, "Harper Valley P.T.A.," penned by master songsmith Tom T. Hall, Texas-born singer Jeannie C. Riley became one of the biggest female country performers in the U.S. during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Unable to duplicate the success of her signature single (which even led to a "Harper Valley P.T.A." movie and TV series), Riley eventually receded from the spotlight, while contemporaries such as Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette went on to fame and fortune.
