California-based DJ and beatmaker Joe Kay is known as the founder and CEO of the tastemaking music collective and label Soulection. Along with a prolific amount of compilation albums since 2011, Kay and Soulection have hosted a radio show on Apple's Beats 1 Radio.
Born in 1989, Kay grew up in Los Angeles, where he developed a passion for hip-hop, R&B, and dance music culture. In 2007, he launched the music podcast, Illvibes.
