Born October 1, 1953 in the Islington area of London, England, John Hegley had a handful of different jobs before finding his calling as a poet, performer, musician, and writer. Both a clerk and a nurse before turning to the infinitely more exciting world of ‘literate pop star,' Hegley initiated his career at the Comedy Store back in 1980.
