Jonathan Segel

Best known as violinist/multi-instrumentalist/founding member of Camper Van Beethoven, Jonathan Segel has been making music professionally since the mid-'80s, releasing albums under his own name as well as the bands Hieronymus Firebrain and Jack & Jill. However, he's also active in the avant-garde/free improv world, having received a Master's Degree in Music Composition from Mills College where he studied with Fred Frith, Alvin Curran, and Pauline Oliveros (and earlier with Gordon Mumma as an undergrad).
