A member of the durable Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, pianist Joseph Kalichstein was among the top U.S. chamber music players of the 20th century. He was also active as a concerto soloist, solo recitalist, and educator.
Kalichstein was born in Tel Aviv, then part of British-administered Mandatory Palestine, on January 15, 1946. After the new state of Israel was established, Kalichstein studied piano there with Joshua Shor.
