Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy was born in Anguilla, Mississippi, in 1948 and raised in Chicago. It's unclear how Andre Williams became her early mentor, but he produced nearly all her early sides on Ran Dee, Fontana, and BlueRock Records.
