Kariyushi 58 come from Okinawa -- Japan's southernmost big island and the country's main resort -- so it makes sense that the band specializes in a sunny, relaxed brand of rock with a huge reggae influence. The group was formed in 2005 by high-school mates Maekawa Shingo (vocals/bass), Shinya Yukihiro (guitar), and Nakamura Hiroki (drums), and debuted in 2006 with the EP Koibito Yo, the title track of which was featured in a compilation that included contributions from big J-rock bands such as Thee Michelle Gun Elephant and The Pillows.
