Biography

A longtime member of the music faculty at the University of Michigan, conductor Kenneth Kiesler has been noted as the mentor of numerous young conductors. He has had a distinguished career as a conductor himself, serving as the music director of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra for many years and as a guest conductor for orchestras in many countries. Kiesler was born in New York on August 18, 1953, and grew up studying music from a young age. He sang in choirs and played the trumpet, and he soon developed an interest in conducting, leading his first concert at age 15 as a subs...
