American bass-baritone Kevin Short has been active in the operatic field, perhaps most notably for creating the role of Joseph in John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles. Short attended Morgan State University, the Curtis Institute, and the Juilliard School, and in 1989 he won the bass-baritone award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
