Columbia, South Carolina native Kiya Juliet is a pop-oriented contemporary R&B artist who built an online following through uploaded clips of cover versions. The singer made her proper recorded debut in 2017 with the self-released "How Could You Play Me." The confrontational yet coolheaded song, inspired by Famous Dex' "Broke My Back for You," also followed in a line of hits -- namely Trillville's "Some Cut" and Wale's "Bad" -- that incorporated the sound of squeaky bed springs.
