Although Le Klass came out of Augusta, Georgia, the urban contemporary unit sounded like it could have been from Minneapolis and reflected leader Nelson Curry's interest in The Minneapolis/St. Paul School of Funk-Rock. Curry, who formed the band in the 1980s, loved pop and rock as much as he loved soul and funk--and he clearly admired the way Minneapolis acts like Prince, the Time and Jesse Johnson combined all of those styles.
