Lathe of Heaven's anxious and arty rock is anchored in a merger of synthy and gothic post-punk inspirations, such as the Cure, Musta Paraati, and A Flock of Seagulls. The Brooklyn band emerged on the Sacred Bones label in 2023 with the debut album Bound by Naked Skies. Working again with producer Ben Greenberg (the Men), the follow-up, Aurora, added romanticism to their apocalyptic sci-fi themes in 2025.
