Los Hijos de la Montaña is a duo comprised of Tucson-based musician Sergio Mendoza and Portland-based singer Luz Elena Mendoza (no relation). Both are of Mexican heritage, which has influenced their individual projects, especially Sergio's elaborate, retro mambo-style band Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta. Luz Elena's group Y la Bamba also incorporates a number of Latin influences into its eclectic indie folk.
