Before his untimely death in 2015, Ariel Camacho had managed to almost single-handedly rejuvenate Mexican regional music. Backed by Los Plebes del Rancho, his recording career barely lasted two years but his youthful take on the banda-sierreño style proved hugely influential for a new generation of Mexican artists that would take the world by storm.
