Formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1965, the Lost Souls consisted of Rob Woff (lead vocals), Terry Paul (guitar), Bill Putt (guitar), Les Wilkins (bass), and Alan Gregory (drums). They got together right out of high school, enamored of the bluesier side of the British beat boom, especially the Rolling Stones, the Animals, and the Pretty Things, and won a local battle-of-the-bands competition, which got them a shot at a single on the Sunshine label.
