Lowlives is comprised of four survivors of an evolving alt-metal scene who released the independent 2017 single "Burn Forever" and slugged it out over the years, finally hitting paydirt with their 2024 full-length debut Freaking Out. British singer/guitarist Lee Downer envisaged Lowlives after the dissolution of electronic/metal band the Defiled, which he fronted from 2005 to 2016.
