Biography
Inspired by earthy, Appalachian traditions, North Carolina folk duo Magic Tuber Stringband create a sound that's familiar but more contemporary and experimental in nature. Multi-instrumentalists Courtney Werner and Evan Morgan began releasing music in 2019, offering sparsely arranged, largely instrumental albums like 2021's When Sorrows Encompass Me 'Round and Wind Machines on various small labels. In 2024, they joined the roster of veteran indie Thrill Jockey, which released their fifth album, Needlefall.
