Biography

English conductor Malcolm Sargent was perhaps the best musical ambassador the British Isles could have hoped for in the 20th century. Equally at home with both orchestra and choir, Sargent's musical energy and unbridled enthusiasm for conveying the wonders of music took him around the globe many times over, and made him a legend in his own time. Sargent was born into a family which had dwelled in the town of Stamford in South Lincolnshire for over five centuries.
