Biography
A Canadian heavy metal outfit led by vocalist/guitarist Thérèse Lanz, Mares of Thrace emerged in 2009 with a sound rooted in doomy sludge, hardcore punk, and experimental post-metal. Originally comprised of Lanz and drummer Stef MacKichan, the Calgary-based duo issued their debut album, The Moulting, in 2009 to regional acclaim. Two years later, they released the Polaris Prize-nominated Pilgrimage, an ambitious three-act concept LP based around the Biblical story of David and Bathsheba.
