Biography

b. Margaret Youngblood, 23 February 1891, Detroit, Michigan, USA, d. 3 May 1969, Inglewood, California, USA. Young sang as a child and from 1920 had a career on radio and records and she also toured vaudeville theatres. Her repertoire was filled with novelty songs and mildly risqué numbers, all delivered in a piping voice that oozed sly innocence. Her first recording career with Brunswick Records ended in 1925 and little was heard of her until 1949 when she recorded a few sides for Capitol Records.
