Marian Renta is a singer, songwriter, and producer known for her passionate, R&B-inflected adult alternative balladry and minimalist approach to production. She released her first album, One of a Kind, in 2011 before taking a hiatus from music and returning ten years later with the EPs Headfirst and Great Deep. Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Newport News, Virginia, Renta had formal music training as a child, studying piano, composition, and theory.
