b. c.1962, Newbridge, Gwent, Wales. Porter began his professional career in 1980 singing in clubs and at private functions throughout south Wales. In the mid-80s he won some national talent contests and in 1987 was invited to join the New Squadronaires Orchestra. He toured extensively with the band, playing many prestigious venues and appeared on radio.
