Mark Deutrom, better known simply as Mark D, had long been a veteran of the experimental American punk and hardcore scene prior to joining Melvins in 1991. In the mid-'80s, Mark D relocated to the West Coast from his native Texas to study composition at the prestigious Cal Arts Institute.
