Matteo Mela is among Italy's most active guitarists, especially visible as one-half of SoloDuo. He has a substantial recording catalog and is also an educator.
Mela was born in Imperia in northern Italy in 1971. He studied the guitar there with Renzo Doria Miglietta. He earned a musicology degree in the city of Cremona, and while there, he met guitarist Giovanni Puddu and continued his studies with him.
