Italian band Messa approaches doom metal from unconventional angles, bringing in unlikely shades of jazz, prog rock, dark ambient, and more into a sound of their own they've dubbed "Scarlet Doom." Messa evolved through different concepts and sounds as they progressed, moving fluidly through black metal, damaged blues, and sinister jazz styles on albums like 2018's Feast for Water to the more goth-inspired sounds of their 2025 album The Spin.
