Brighton, U.K. duo Miamigo drew inspiration from the darker, more atmospheric side of the '80s. They cited New Order, Duran Duran, and Michael Jackson as influences, as well as channeling the essence of classic John Carpenter soundtracks. Though their lyrics were reminiscent of the '80s, the vocals maintained a relatively modern pop sensibility.
