Michael Mason is a Chicago-based flutist, composer, author, recording artist, and arranger. He is well-versed in jazz tradition from swing and hard bop to the vanguard as well as in prog-rock, world music, and other styles. Despite technical sophistication, Mason offers raw immediacy in his tone and phrasing, balancing emotion with intellect.
