Miroslav Vitous

Bassist, composer, bandleader, and improviser Miroslav Vitous is one of the world's foremost jazz bassists. In an ensemble, his playing dances like a frontline players'; he is also creative with a bow. He was a founding member of Weather Report, but before that he'd played with Herbie Mann, Steve Marcus, Chick Corea, and Jack DeJohnette. Infinite Search, his 1970 leader debut, was a fusion classic and was followed by Purple. After three albums with WR, he issued the celebrated Magical Shepherd in 1976, Majesty Music, and Miroslav.
