Biography
Los Angeles outfit Mr. Elevator and the Brain Hotel take their name from a Donovan lyric, and their melding of '60s psych-pop and contemporary lo-fi underground made them a natural fit for California D.I.Y. empire Burger Records, who signed them in 2013. Their debut album, Nico and Her Psychedelic Subconscious, pitted trippy organ-led jams against tuneful pop in a way similar to '60s-referencing West Coast acts like Foxygen and the Allah-Las. Their follow-up, When the Morning Greets You, arrived in early 2017, this time via Rad Cat Records. ~ Timothy Monger
